2017/2018 7th ANNUAL T(w)EEN THEATER PROGRAM

We’re currently considering 3 shows (2 musicals and one play), and dependent on interest, we’re also open to facilitating the cast creating a show. Tentative show dates are the weekend of May 18, 2018. Let us know if any of the following: May 18th (evening), 19th (matinee and evening), 20th (matinee) are completely impossible for you.

This year, rather than jumping right into auditions/rehearsals, we’re holding four weeks of performance workshops, beginning Sunday, September 17. It is always a challenge to choose the right show before we work with the cast. This year, we’ll finalize our t(w)een show once we’ve spent some time with the group. We believe this will give each cast member the best possible experience.

Over the 4-week period, activities will include improv games & exercises, the basics of “selling” a song, scene work with partners, and dance fundamentals.

Our main goals for that time are to:

  • Build a supportive, cohesive team.
  • Create an environment that encourages creative risk-taking.
  • Determine how much commitment each cast member feels confident taking on this year.
  • Explore each cast member’s singular talents/existing skills/interests, e.g. tap dance, playing violin, guitar, stand-up comedy, magic tricks etc. (and how we might incorporate them into our performances).

This year’s sessions/rehearsals will be every Sunday from 5pm to 7pm at St. Mark’s Church in Jackson Heights, corner of 82nd Street & 34th Avenue. We will announce casting/formally start rehearsals Sunday, October 22. We will not hold a session Sunday, October 8th.

We hope you’ll join us as we dive into this exciting year!
